MRC was established in 2008 and its area covers our 13 major remote communities as well as many outstations. MRC employs over 500 staff, 370 of whom are the local Aboriginal staff.

The Role:

The role has the primary purpose of operating remote community swimming pool infrastructure and to provide lifeguard duties. As the Team Leader Pool, you will be responsible for maintaining and upholding pool rules for the safety and enjoyment of all patrons.

The Community:

Areyonga, known locally as Utju, is nestled in a spectacular valley in the western end of the MacDonnell Ranges, about 100km from Hermannsburg and 240km west of Alice Springs. Its population of 235 residents predominantly speak Pitjantjatjara.

Despite being a relatively small population, it is a proud and vital community with its own store, community hall and a weekly air service.

Key Duties:

Undertake maintenance and cleaning of aquatic facility, plant and equipment including pool water quality testing and correction in line with relevant legislation
Supervise, train and develop staff
Develop positive working relationships with stakeholders
Develop and follow rosters to ensure that the facility meets GSPO supervision requirements and MRC policies
Maintain required records and implement appropriate policies and procedures for the effective operation of the pool facility and swimming programs
Maintain an awareness of and adhere to the MRC Safety Management System requirements, policies and procedures
Skills and Experience:

Possess a good level of physical fitness
Ability to work unsupervised and effectively as part of a team
Ability to lead, motivate and mentor team members to foster independence and increase local ownership of the service
Current Pool Lifeguard Certification including Oxygen Resuscitation
Current First Aid Certification including CPR
Current Pool Plant Operations Certification
Current Driver's License
Ochre Card
Experience in aquatic facility management and associated understanding of health and safety legislation relevant to a public swimming pool environment
