Bunbury Swimming Club - PERFORMANCE COACH
Bunbury Swimming Club is one of the largest and most energetic swimming clubs in the South West region of Western Australia.
We offer swimmers a professional, caring environment in which to pursue goals and dreams, while impressing upon them the importance of resilience, commitment, hard work and enjoyment.
The club was named 2017 Swimming Australia Optus Club of the year and 2018 Swimming WA Regional Club of the Year for the third consecutive year.

We are currently seeking a result driven Performance Coach who is passionate about competitive swimming and coaching. The successful applicant will be tasked with designing, and coaching the club’s Performance squads utilising your experience and knowledge of international high-performance best practice. You will be required to implement a program to motivate and develop state level athletes to meet National age and open targets and achieve competitive success at this level.
The successful person will embrace positive ideals and values promoting an environment in which swimmers develop self-esteem, self-confidence, discipline, effective habits and motivation to succeed.
Your duties:
• Plan, deliver and manage the Performance squad program including overseeing the Club’s Strength and conditioning program at the South West sports Centre, other Dryland training as required and supporting the Physiotherapy Musculoskeletal Screening Program provided to our elite athletes.
• Set the Performance Squad target meet schedule (open water and pool) and attend target meets including attendance at club time trials when required and national swimming events.
• Work collaboratively with coaches, parents and the management committee and motivate performance squad swimmers to achieve performance squad swimming goals and achieve successful competitive results at Club, Regional, State level and National level.
• Assist the club’s Development coach to identify swimming talent in our development squads and assist in guiding appropriate swimmers towards the Performance squads.
• Work with swimmers and coaches to encourage positive word of mouth and, support members’ and the Club’s Management Committee (MC) to promote and develop the club.
• Communicate in a positive, effective and timely manner with swimmers, parents, the club’s management committee and other agencies as required.
• Attend MC meetings when required and be supportive of the MC to allow effective club management.
• Participate in professional development opportunities (ASCTA, Southwest Region) including assisting our Development Coach in the supervision and mentoring of our coaching team.

Minimum qualifications and experience at the time of appointment:
• Advanced Coaching (previously known as Silver) licence (preferred) or equivalent Performance Coach level accreditation or working towards this.
• Experience and demonstrated success coaching at high performance level.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships with coaches, parents, technical officials, swimmers and the MC.
• Ability to secure a Working with Children Card in WA
• Hold a current ASCTA membership
• ABN holder (or willingness to obtain one)
Working hours and pay
• The hourly rate payable will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
• 15-17 hours / week coaching which will include mornings, afternoons and evening sessions (Mon to Saturday) plus some weekend work for competition attendance.
• 5 hours / week administration directly related to squad planning, coaching, swim meet preparation, monitoring of swimmer progress and meeting attendance.
• Attendance at swim meets will be paid as a fixed daily rate with travel and accommodation reimbursements also paid.
