Bunbury Swimming Club - DEVELOPMENT COACH
Bunbury Swimming Club is one of the largest and most energetic swimming clubs in the South West region of Western Australia.
We offer swimmers a professional, caring environment in which to pursue goals and dreams, while impressing upon them the importance of resilience, commitment, hard work and enjoyment.
The club was named 2017 Swimming Australia Optus Club of the Year and 2018 Swimming WA Regional Club of the Year for the third consecutive year.

We are currently seeking a result driven Development Coach who is passionate about competitive swimming and coaching to work in our competitive Club.
The successful applicant will be tasked with designing, coaching and overseeing our development squads and continuing our club’s proud history of high achievement and results at club, regional and State level competition. The Development Coach will also be required to work with and nurture non-competitive swimmers in the club.
The successful person will embrace positive ideals and values promoting an environment in which youth develop self-esteem, self-confidence, discipline, effective habits and motivation to succeed.
Your duties:
• Design development squad programs, manage, supervise and coach development squads.
• Work collaboratively with coaches, parents and the management committee (MC) and to motivate swimmers, to achieve members’ swimming goals and achieve successful competitive results for the club at Club, Regional and State level.
• Identify swimming talent and nurture talent through the competitive pathways at Bunbury Swimming Club including liaising with the Performance Coach to guide appropriate swimmers towards the Performance program where our club has achieved success at National level competition.
• Select, promote, prepare swimmers (and parents) for and attend the club’s target competitions (club time trials as required, club, region and state) to support the competitive development of our swimmers.
• Work with swimmers and coaches to encourage positive word of mouth and, support members’ and the MC to promote and develop the club.
• Communicate in a positive, effective and timely manner with swimmers, parents, the MC and other agencies as required.
• Attend MC meetings when required and be supportive of the MC to allow effective club management.
• Participate in professional development opportunities (ASCTA, Southwest Region) including working with our Performance Coach in the supervision and mentoring of our coaching team.

Minimum qualifications and experience at the time of appointment:
• Bronze (development) coaching licence (preferred)
• 3 years of coaching experience (preferred)
• Demonstrated success in carrying out the role of swim coach within a competitive swimming environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to develop strong working relationships with coaches, parents, technical officials, swimmers and the MC.
• Ability to secure a Working with Children Card in WA
• Hold a current ASCTA membership
• ABN holder (or willingness to obtain one)

Working hours and pay
• 5 hours Coaching/ Supervision of Development Squad Training on pool deck. May involve mornings, afternoon, evening sessions (Monday to Saturday.
• 5 hours Administration. Directly related to squad planning, coaching, swim meet preparation, monitoring of swimmer progress and meeting attendance.
• Some weekend work for competition attendance.
• The hourly rate payable will be dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
• Attendance at swim meets will be paid as a fixed daily rate with travel and accommodation reimbursements also paid.
