We have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic coach in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Our medium sized club, established in 2016, has undergone unprecedented growth over the past year increasing membership from 30 swimmers to nearly 90. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and looking for the opportunity to participate in the building of something very special. Our organisation prides itself on the building of not only swimmers but young people. Our club consists primarily of junior swimmers and the ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong background in junior coaching as well as a serious passion for working with junior swimmers. Long term permanent part time increasing to full time position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will consist of approximately 26 hours on deck coaching and 10 hours administrative work on a weekly basis. This will include three weekday mornings and 5 afternoons as well as weekend coaching. The program runs across two venues in Melbourne’s south-east and the role will require coaching between both venues. This part time opportunity can be expected to increase to full time as the club and programs evolve. This role can be fulfilled by either one or two candidates. Plan and deliver a range of swimming programs to cater for a range of squads from Pre-squad through State level.
Development and implementation of a calisthenics and plyometrics dry-land program.
Demonstration of coaching expertise and personal excellence.
Review, evaluation and feedback of swimmer development.
Regular liaison with athletes and parents to review progress and provide feedback.
Promote and develop the profile of the club within the swimming and wider sporting community.
Swim meet coaching in accordance with the target meet calendar (typically 1 meet/month).

Experience and Qualifications:

ASCTA Member
Bronze Licence minimum qualification, preferably Silver Licence
Head coach experience desirable
Current working with children check
Current CPR and First Aid
Experience in working with junior swimmers from Pre-squad through State level
Ability to create, deliver, monitor and review coaching programs for a range of ages and stages of squad swimming from 5 years up.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Maintain a high level of professionalism, time management and reliability.
Sound administration skills.
Competitive swimming background is highly desirable.
